Midas is the third single release from Monzanto Sound’s upcoming LP ‘The Channel’. The song borrows themes and symbols from an ancient allegory to reflect on our current reality. It explores excess, corruption, and overconsumption—it challenges, but also condemns. As the story goes, Midas eventually goes mad, is ridiculed, and loses everything in the end. Consequently, this song serves as much as a warning or a curse as it does a lamentation.

The Channel - Coming August 8th.

Monzanto Sound

Monzanto Sound are a South East London-based music collective fusing together different styles from the African Diaspora and combining them with a hypnotic, psychedelic edge. Traversing through jazz-inflected funk, psychedelic trip-hop and cosmic neo-soul, they connect the dots using pulsating grooves, hypnotic polyrhythms and soaring vocals.

Mimi has worked with the collective as a vocalist and songwriter since 2020. Together they have released two musical projects (EPs) and are set to release their forthcoming debut album ‘The Channel’ in August 2025.
